WORCESTER – An unsuspecting truck driver was caught in a situation that has become a familiar one on Cambridge Street. About 10 a.m. Friday, the cab of the tractor-trailer slammed into the Providence & Worcester Railroad bridge overpass. There was no major damage to the truck, as the driver stopped soon after realizing it would not make it through. Police soon shut down part of Cambridge Street while the rig was inspected. The height of the bridge -12 feet, 9 inches- is marked on each side and on the street entrance from Route 146. Even so, this scenario continues to be a common frustration for Worcester police and businesses in the area.
