Crash victims were transported to a local church by school bus in order to keep warm, according to the Utah Department of Public Safety. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but ice and snow made the roadway slick around the time of the crash. Transportation officials shut down I-80 in both directions for cleanup and investigation of the crash. One lane of eastbound I-80 reopened around noon. All lanes of westbound I-80 are expected to remain shut down for hours. Drivers are asked to seek alternative routes. Several other crashes have been reported in the area in the past 24 hours.
