Serious injuries reported in T-bone crash involving semi-truck on Gratiot

Gratiot Road west of River Road is down to one lane in each direction after a serious injury crash Friday morning, March 30, involving a semi-truck and a four-door sedan. The broadside crash was reported around 9:30 a.m. Friday by Saginaw County 911. The truck was headed eastbound on Gratiot when it struck the driver’s side of a black Chevrolet Malibu, according to officials at the scene. Thomas Township Fire Chief Michael Cousins said the driver of the car was unconscious and transported to an area hospital. He did not disclose extent of injuries, but Thomas Township police on Facebook said at least one person suffered “serious” injuries. A passenger in the Malibu suffered minor injuries, Cousins said. The semi-truck driver was uninjured. The Saginaw County Crash Investigation Team was called to the scene.
