St. Joseph woman, 66, dies in wrong-way crash on I-29 involving tractor trailer

One person is dead after a crash involving a tractor-trailer heading the wrong way along I-29 north of Platte City Wednesday night. It happened at approximately 9:09 p.m., in the northbound lanes of I-29 near the 24 mile marker. The Missouri State Highway Patrol online crash report says the tractor-trailer driver was traveling south when he crossed the median and ended up in the northbound lanes. The report says as the tractor-trailer driver tried to turn around, a 2004 Cadillac hit the back of it. Cynthia Humphrey, 66, died from her injuries at the hospital. She was wearing a seat belt. The driver of the Cadillac was also taken to a St. Joseph hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured. It is unclear why he crossed the median to begin with.
