Video/News: Police ID victim in fatal head-on I-35 crash near Cumming

A 32-year-old man died Wednesday after his vehicle drove head-on into a semi-truck on Interstate 35 in Warren County, authorities said. Wayne Christopher Field, of Winterset, died after his 2005 Toyota SUV, for an unknown reason, was traveling north in the southbound lane of I-35 near Cumming and struck a semi-truck in a head-on collision, State Patrol troopers said in a crash report. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Casey’s semi truck, driven by a 54-year-old man from Ankeny, was traveling south in the southbound lane. He was not injured, State Patrol Sgt. Nathan Ludwig said. Southbound lanes were reopened between County Roads G4R and G14.
