40 hogs dead after semi-truck rollover in northeastern Iowa, authorities say

Dozens of hogs died Tuesday morning when a semi-truck pulling a trailer rolled in northeastern Iowa, authorities said. Deputies in Fayette County responded shortly before 6 a.m. after the semi driven by a 25-year-old man from New Hampton lost control and rolled over on Hemlock Road, about a mile east of Fayette, the sheriff’s office said. The driver was transporting 175 hogs, about 40 of which died, authorities said. The driver was not injured. Authorities estimated the rollover caused $10,000 in damage to the semi. The driver, James Robert King, was cited for failure to maintain control, the sheriff’s office said.
