Of the three passengers in the van, one of them is also in critical condition. The conditions of the other two passengers are unknown, fire Sgt. Cortez Stafford told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. All three were able to get out of the van without assistance.
The tractor-trailer driver was able to get out the truck by himself, which Stafford said “is amazing when you look at the damage to his tractor-trailer.” He is stable, according to officials. It is unclear what caused the accident between the van and truck, which occurred about 11 a.m. and is still blocking the intersection. “It just appeared that these two came to the intersection,” Stafford said. “The truck tried to avoid the van. And in doing so, it swerved around and ended up on its side.”
