I-43 lanes closed near Grafton after semi-truck jackknifed into median

TOWN OF GRAFTON – Southbound lanes of I-43 were closed at Highway 60 at 1:17 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, after a semi-tractor trailer jackknifed into the median.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Department  determined the semi-tractor trailer struck a van pulling a camper from behind after the van slowed for traffic ahead in the southbound lane north of Lakefield Road. The impact caused the semi-tractor to jackknife into the median.

Three people were transported to Aurora Medical Center in Grafton for non-life-threatening injuries.

All southbound lanes were closed for several hours as crews cleaned up the scene.

The Ozaukee County Highway Department assisted with off-loading 70,000 pounds of paper product from the semi-tractor. The Ozaukee County HazMat Team cleaned up spilled diesel fuel from the semi-tractor.
