Texas police are warning drivers to plan around the path of a huge oversized load that is expected to slow down traffic on several roads until Friday. On the morning of Wednesday, December 12, a truck hauling a million pound generator departed Stockdale to begin its very slow trek through southern Texas at speeds of just 1 to 4 m.p.h. Its eventual destination is the Calavares Power Plant in Bexar County, Texas, according to Ken5.
“The load is anticipated to get to St. Hwy 123 in Stockdale by Wednesday evening and depart Thursday morning. It will be traveling on St. Hwy 123 to St Hwy 46 in Guadalupe County. Friday the route continues on to FM 467 to FM 539 back into Wilson County. It will travel on FM 539 to US Hwy 87 in Sutherland Springs. Saturday the load will depart to LaVernia and continue on into Bexar County to its destination.” Authorities recommend that drivers choose alternate routes.
Though the generator is causing traffic delays, many locals are thrilled to get to see such a large piece of equipment on the move.
“Honestly, I just didn’t think it would be that big,” resident Scott Bustamante told reporters. “I just got off work and had to show the kids because they were excited to see it,” added local man Tyler Withers. You can take a look at the oversized load on the move in the video below.
