Port Orchard semi truck driver dies on I-5 stretch near Castle Rock

Washington State Patrol is investigating the death of a 61-year-old Port Orchard, Washington, man who died early Wednesday morning while driving on Interstate 5 about two miles south of Castle Rock. Steven Adam seemed to have veered off the road into a guard rail near milepost 46. WSP public information officer Will Finn said troopers found Adam deceased in a UPS semi truck down an embankment on the right side of the freeway. The crash did not affect traffic or impact any other vehicles, he said. Finn said that there were no signs of evasive action taken by the driver, and that the dynamics of the crash don’t suggest that there should have been any injuries at all. “It’s still under investigation, but all signs point to a possible medical event,” Finn said. Further medical information about the man is still unclear. Adam had been driving from Portland to Seattle and was wearing a seat belt.
