Semi Driver Injured After Falling Asleep, Striking Tree

Deputies responded to a personal injury motor vehicle accident in the town of Portland early Saturday morning around 2:36 a.m.

Upon arrival, deputies located a tractor trailer off the roadway. Through an investigation, it was found that Larry Blood allegedly fell asleep while driving when he left the road and struck a utility pole and tree. Blood was transported to Westfield Memorial Hospital by ALSTAR Ambulance for injuries.

Blood was issued a traffic ticket for failure to keep right and will answer the charge in the Town of Portland Court at a later date.
