The Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office has issued charges against a semi driver involved in a crash that killed a Davison man and his daughter. Wednesday’s crash along westbound I-69 near Bristol Road in Flint Township killed 27-year-old Cody Thomas and 3-year-old Aria Thomas. The prosecutor’s office says 34-year-old Dalibor Sakotic of Wylie, Texas was driving a semi-truck and trailer which slammed into the back of a Chevrolet Malibu with four people inside. Police found the Malibu smashed and partially under the semi.The driver of the car suffered serious injuries. Also in the car was Thomas’ wife and mother of Aria who survived the crash.
“This is a terrible tragedy that took the lives of a father and his young daughter and left their grieving wife and mother behind,” said Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton. Sakotic has been charged with two counts of manslaughter with a motor vehicle and one count of reckless driving causing serious impairment. He is expected to be arraigned Friday afternoon in 67th District Court.
