Truck hit by tractor-trailer flips, spills paint on turnpike in Sumter Co.

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – Troopers are searching for a tractor-trailer driver who hit a truck carrying road paint on the Florida Turnpike and then drove away. The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 6:30 Saturday morning in the southbound lanes of SR-91 in Sumter County. According to the crash report, a tractor-trailer was passing the truck carrying paint when it sideswiped the truck’s passenger side mirror. The impact caused the paint truck to go off the road and into the median where it hit a guardrail and flipped over. The load of road striping paint in the truck spilled along the turnpike.

The driver of the truck was not injured. The passenger suffered minor injuries. The tractor-trailer did not stop and continued heading south after the collision. Anyone with information is asked to call *FHP. Troopers are telling drivers in the area to expect delays.
