A truck driver struck a New Jersey bridge with such force yesterday that, incredibly, his truck’s trailer was torn in half. The incident happened yesterday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. at the Laurel Avenue bridge in Holmdel Township.
According to the Holmdel Patch, the unidentified truck driver struck the bridge with such force that the top of the trailer was sheared off and the trailer was split into two parts. In police photos, you can see numerous packages spilled out of the trailer onto the roadway.
It happened yet again. A news helicopter from CBS2 New York captured this incredible footage from a FedEx truck that just collided with the Laurel Avenue bridge Monday afternoon in Holmdel Township (see video below). The impact was so great it shaved the roof off the truck and — incredibly — split the truck in two. The bridge clearance is 12 feet, five inches. There are no injuries reported. That bridge carries the North Jersey Coast line of NJ Transit railroad tracks over Laurel Avenue. It has not impacted NJ Transit service.
You can take a look at helicopter video of the aftermath below.
