A semi-trailer has been filmed crashing into a bridge on a bustling freeway this afternoon.
Video obtained by 9NEWS shows the truck’s dump-truck tray propped up vertically as it approaches an overpass on the Princes Freeway at Doherty’s Road, in Melbourne’s south-west, about midday. “F—k! F—k! F—k!,” the man behind the camera yells as the truck hurtles closer and closer to the bridge.
At full speed, the tray hits the overpass, flipping off the vehicle and blocking an entire lane. Witnesses said the truck driver appeared “shocked” as he stopped his vehicle. No one was injured, police confirmed in a statement just before 3.30pm.
VicRoads has advised three outbound lanes remain closed, causing traffic to stretch back for about five kilometres as peak hour gets underway. Specialised crews have successfully towed the damaged truck from the crash scene. Police investigations are ongoing, with any witnesses urged to come forward.
