Video: Portion of I-75 SB reopens following 5-vehicle crash, semi-truck fire in Charlotte County

A multiple-vehicle crash and fire Tuesday morning shut down a portion of Interstate 75 for several hours, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The five-vehicle wreck happened around 7:19 a.m. near mile marker 164, according to the FHP.  Five people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. A semi-truck not involved in the crash was in the outside lane of the interstate waiting for the road to reopen when the cab of the semi-truck caught fire, State troopers said. The truck was fully engulfed, but the flames were later extinguished by fire rescue and EMS crews. All lanes of the interstate reopened around 1:52 p.m., State troopers said.
