Owner-operator Cathy Bauder walked away from the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky last week with an extra $10,000 courtesy of Peterbilt‘s SuperFan contest. SuperFan contest. Bauder, of Harmony, Pennsylvania, was one of five finalists up for the grand prize, which was Peterbilt’s one millionth truck, a bright red Model 567 Heritage. She may not have won the truck but she walked away with a big check and $625 to redeem for parts at Peterbilt dealerships. “I’m honored to be recognized that I drive their truck up and down the road,” Bauder said. Bauder drives a 379 named Sophia. She’s only owned 379s because of their classic look. She’s driven a Peterbilt for 20 of her 25 years in trucking. Her passion for the industry is what keeps her getting back in the driver’s seat each day. “The thrill is still there. The passion. I make a living out of driving a Peterbilt up and down the road,” Bauder said. Bauder would tell any woman interested in trucking that she can do this job and be successful in the trucking industry. “A lot has changed since I started trucking and it’s a lot better and a lot easier for women,” Bauder said.
